Privacy notice

We collect as little as we need to make your report and keep it up to date. We do not sell your data and we do not send marketing.

Who is responsible

The data controller is 4K Technologies Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 14234800), registered office 14 Ridgeway, Swinton, Manchester, M27 8QW. Contact us about your data at [email protected].

What we collect and why

• Your postcode, to find your council. When you press Check, it is looked up with postcodes.io, a public postcode service.
• Your house number or name, parking type, and whether the home is in a conservation area or listed, to write the report for your address.
• Your email address, to send your report link and to tell you if your council's rules change. We use it for nothing else.
• Payment details go straight to Stripe. We receive only the payment's status and reference, never your card number.
• Partner link clicks: which partner link was opened from which report, and when, so referral fees can be matched.
• Server logs: IP address, browser and the pages requested, kept to keep the site secure and working.

Our lawful basis is contract (to make and update the report you bought) and legitimate interests (to secure the site and deal with refunds and disputes). Payment and report records are also kept to meet tax and accounting law.

Who we share it with

Only the services that run the site, each acting on our instructions:

• Stripe, for payments (UK, EU and US, under Stripe's safeguards).
• Hetzner, which hosts the site and database in Germany.
• Cloudflare, which protects and speeds up the site.
• postcodes.io, which receives the postcode you check, and nothing else.
• Our email provider, which sends your report and update emails.

Partners only learn that you came from Hedgevolt if you follow a partner link. We never pass them your email or address.

How long we keep it

We keep your report, its address details and your email for 6 years from purchase, so the link keeps working and to meet accounting law. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days. Ask us and we will delete your report and email sooner, except the payment record we must keep.

Cookies

We use only the cookies the site needs to work: a session cookie and a security token for forms. Cloudflare may set a security cookie to tell people from bots. There are no analytics or advertising cookies, so there is nothing to accept.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email [email protected] and we will reply within a month. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
