About
About Hedgevolt
Hedgevolt answers one question for EV drivers without a driveway: will my council let me charge across the pavement, and how? It covers every English highway authority, with the source and the date behind each answer.
Who runs it
Hedgevolt is run by 4K Technologies Ltd, company number 14234800, registered office 14 Ridgeway, Swinton, Manchester, M27 8QW. It started in Swinton, on terraced streets where most people park at the kerb and nobody could say what the council allowed. We are independent of councils and of the companies that make cable channels.
How each council is checked
- Source first. Every status links to where it came from and shows the date we last checked it. We prefer the council's own website.
- Confidence, shown openly. High means the council's own page sets the scheme out. Medium means an official document that does not set it out in full, or news coverage or a vendor page. Low means we found nothing published, and we say so rather than guess; the link on those pages is marked as a reference, because it shows where we looked rather than something the council published.
- Rechecked every week from November 2026. Each council's source page is compared with the week before. A change is checked by hand before anything on the site changes, the page's "last checked" date moves on, and anyone with a report for that council is emailed.
- Nothing published is not a no. Where a council has published nothing, we are asking it directly, and its page is updated when it answers.
What is free and what is paid
Each council's status, scheme, published fees, accepted products and application link are free on its council page, and the whole list is available as JSON. The £2 report is about your home: whether you qualify for the on-street chargepoint grant, what a conservation area or listed building changes, a cost table, and a ready-to-send email to your councillor if the answer is no.
Some links in reports go to partners who pay us a referral fee. That never changes what a report says.
Corrections
If something is wrong or out of date, email help@hedgevolt.co.uk with a link to the council page. We check it, usually within 2 working days, and update the page with the new source and date. If anything in your report was wrong, you get a full refund under our refund promise.
What Hedgevolt is not
It is not legal advice and it does not replace your council's permission. Always confirm with your council before paying for any installation.
