Why you can trust Hedgevolt
Before you pay for anything, here is how we handle your money and your data, where our information comes from, and what happens if we get something wrong.
Is my card safe?
You pay on Stripe's own secure checkout page. Your card details go straight to Stripe. Hedgevolt never sees or stores your card number; we only receive confirmation that the payment went through and its reference.
What happens to my data?
4K Technologies Ltd, which runs Hedgevolt, is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number ZC282491.
- We ask only for what the report needs: your postcode, house number or name, where you park, whether your home is in a conservation area or listed, and an email address to send your report and tell you if your council's rules change.
- We do not sell your data, and we only send marketing email to people who sign up for it.
- Google Analytics only runs if you click Accept, and nothing is used for advertising.
- Ask us and we will delete your report and email, except the payment record the law says we must keep.
The full detail is in our privacy notice. The site is served only over an encrypted connection and runs on supported, up-to-date software.
Where does your information come from?
Every council's status links to the council's own page or document and shows the date we last checked it. Where a council has published nothing, we say so instead of guessing, and figures we cannot find on a council's page do not appear on ours.
We go back to the sources regularly. On 31 October 2026 we rechecked 54 councils against their own pages and corrected 14 of them; here is what changed. From November 2026 every council's source page is compared week by week, and anyone with a report for a council that changes gets an email.
What if something is wrong?
Email help@hedgevolt.co.uk within 30 days of buying your report and we will refund you in full if it was for the wrong council, if a fact in it did not match the council's or the government's published information on the date we checked it, or if your address is outside England. We usually check within 2 working days. This is on top of your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. See our refund promise.
Are you independent?
Yes. We are not a council and we do not make or install cable channels. Some links in reports go to partners who may pay us a referral fee. That never changes what a report says, and any arrangement is disclosed.
What does the £2 pay for?
The council information is free for everyone. £2 pays for the personal report and for keeping 152 councils' details checked and up to date.
The report applies your council's rules to your home: whether you are likely to qualify for the on-street chargepoint grant, what changes in a conservation area or a listed building, a cost table, a ready-to-send email to your councillor if the answer is no, and an email if your council's rules change.
How can it save you money?
The grant pays 75% of a chargepoint, up to £500, but only if you get your council's consent first and do not install before the grant is approved. Installing too early loses it. The report checks the grant's conditions against your home and shows your council's fees before you commit to anything, and our free guide to the grant sets out the order to do things in.
